A Great Site That Nobody Visits

A recent post at Y Combinator posed the following question:
"Did you ever launch a project that deserved popularity, but inexplicably failed? Something you still think could have changed the world? Post a link here."

One of the links posted was:
http://watrcoolr.us

Here are a few of the select quotes from the replies:

  • "This site is very, very cool. I really appreciate super-minimalistic UI's like this. I've bookmarked it. :)"

Announcing the "Drupal" Subreddit!

Finally! Tired of having my drupal submissions in the various generic subreddits get modded down, I have taken the necessary steps and created the official "drupal" subreddit on reddit.com.

For those of you not familiar with reddit it is a social news site in similar vein to Digg. Recently the administrators of reddit added the capability to create your own subreddits on specific topics.

Check out the link below to access the drupal subreddit:

Using the OpenID Drupal Module with Clickpass

I wrote about my experience with the OpenID account provider Clickpass in the previous blog entry Using Clickpass for OpenID Site Login. I mentioned I would try to install OpenID for use with Clickpass and the CEO of Clickpass left an encouraging reply. This week I tried installing the OpenID Drupal Module. I must say it was a bit confusing, but I was able to successfully log into Startplane from Clickpass.

China Censors YouTube

Techcrunch is shining light on the Chinese Government's censorship of YouTube in response to the posting of video depicting their violent crackdown on Tibetan Protesters .

Using Clickpass for OpenID Site Login

While browsing del.icio.us the other day I came across a new site called Clickpass that provides you with an OpenID account. There have been a number of OpenID providers in the past, but something seemed different about Clickpass. For a while I thought OpenID was set to go the way of the foaf... a great idea that fails to take hold. Now that Yahoo has announced support for OpenID I figured I would give OpenID another look via Clickpass:

How To Right-Click on a Macbook Running Windows Under Bootcamp

You can right-click under Windows XP running on a Macbook by holding two separated fingers on the trackpad and clicking at the same time.

Analyzing Digg Relationships with Digg Stalker

The folks over at PostWorthy have recently created an online tool for analyzing user relationships at Digg called Digg Stalker . I have recently re-discovered Digg after abandoning it for reddit by means of their ever improving profile tools. The ability to add friends and track their submissions adds a whole new dimension to social networking that is currently lacking in sites like reddit. Digg Stalker provides a convenient platform for analyzing these relationships without having to be constrained by the digg interface.

Adding a Digg Button to Drupal

Look at the bottom of this article and you will see a "Digg This" button using the familiar digg icon. Adding this button is an easy way to increase the visibility of your blog. To add this digg button simply install the Digg This module from the Drupal website. It's installation is surprisingly simple (as are most Drupal modules).
